HTC Annual Awards Meeting

Board Members Present: David Purinton (President), Eric Charette (VP – Races and Equipment), Harold Tinsley (VP – Communications), Ashley Cain (VP – Programs), Kathy Youngren (Treasurer), Joey Butler (Secretary), Suzanne Taylor (Appointed Member – Co- Rocket City Marathon Director), Craig Armstrong (Appointed Member – Past Board Member).

Board Members Absent: Dink Taylor (Appointed Member – Co-Cotton Row Director)

Also present approximately 75 HTC members and guests.

The Huntsville Track Club met on November 10, 2009 for the annual HTC Awards Banquet at the Lodge at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL at 6:00. The meeting was opened at 6:50 by club president David Purinton. David welcomed the members and guests. David thanked Ashley Cain for organizing the banquet and also thanked Clare for her help with the awards.

The following 2009 awards were presented:

Service Award: Dr. Darla Cowart, presented by Alice Moses

Appreciation Award: Brent Wren, written by Dink Taylor and presented by Suzanne Taylor

Male Outstanding HTC High School Cross Country Runner: Keith Buell, written by Jim Oaks and presented by Harold Tinsley

Female Outstanding HTC High School Cross Country Runner: Brooke Sherman, written by Jim Oaks and presented by Harold Tinsley

Admiration: Laura Charette, presented by Suzanne Taylor

Dedication Award: Susanna Litkenhous, presented by Suzanne Taylor

Female Preformance Award: Linda Scavarda, presented by Kathy Youngren

Male Performance Award: David Riddle, presented by Eric Charette

Tom Bolt (President’s) Award: Dick and Wanda Franklin, presented by David Purinton

Norm Harris Achievement Award: Rob and Kathy Youngren, presented by Craig Armstrong

Browning Ross Spirit of the RRCA Award Nominee: James Hurley, presented by David Purinton

RRCA Rod Steele Outstanding Volunteer Award: Dink Taylor, presented by David Purinton

RRCA Scott Hamilton Outstanding Club President Award: David Purinton, presented by Harold Tinsley

David announced the winner of the 2009 HTC Best T-Shirt Award as being the McKay Hollow Half Marathon

DeWayne Satterfield presented the following HTC Grand Prix Awards:

Male Overall: David Riddle and Eric Charette

Female Overall: Candace Jacobs and Linda Scavarda

Masters Male: Donald Bowman and David Purinton

Masters Female: Mona Parker and Whitney Hollingsworth

Male Grandmasters: George Dewitt, Joe Francica, and Wayne Heckler

Female Grandmasters: Jamie Clay and Anne Park

David reminded everyone that the next HTC meeting is the Annual Business Meeting on January 12, 2010 at the Lodge at Monte Sano State Park. With no further business, the meeting was closed.
