For the past few years, this race has been at full capacity which means you will need to arrive a bit early and be careful as you arrive. Parking at the church is limited so we ask you to carpool if possible and plan to arrive early to allow time for parking. Please observe and comply with the directions of the volunteers directing parking and do not park on private property or in areas that are blocked off. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

In keeping with the timing of this event, the Saturday closest to Veteran's Day, and to show our communities support to our veterans, a portion of the race proceeds will go to support two outstanding organizations that work with and assist our Veterans, Team Red, White, and Blue and Still Serving Vets. Click here for more info on these charities and learn about the great work they are doing.

General Information

The half-marathon starts at 8:00 AM at Hillwood Baptist Church, 300 Kohler Road, Huntsville, AL. The church is located just off South Memorial Parkway (Hwy. 231) at the intersection of Mountain Gap Road, approximately 6.6 miles south of the I-565, and Memorial Parkway intersection.

The course is a relatively flat out-and-back course that starts and finishes at the Hillwood Baptist Church. The first part of the course is a 3.0 mile loop that circles through an adjacent neighborhood and back to the church. The course continues through southeast Huntsville and includes a 2.0 mile section of the Aldridge Creek Greenway. Click here for a course map. The 1/2 Marathon course is sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America and the USATF and certified by the USATF/RRTC (1/2 M = AL10021JD).

Weather conditions vary in early November so be prepared for conditions that could be warm and sunny, strong cold winds, or rain. Aid stations will be provided at the 2, 5, 7, 9, and 11 mile locations. Mile splits will be called at various locations throughout the race. A port-o-let will be located along the course near the intersection with Chaney Thompson Road.

Sponsor Support: The race proceeds, in part, will support two outstanding veteran's organizations, Team Red, White, and Blue and Still Serving Veterans. In addition, Hillwood Baptist Church is once again providing the facility for our race. During the months of November and December the church Food Pantry (used to provide food for local needy families) is sometimes depleted. We would like to ask each runner to donate one canned food item to the Hillwood Baptist Church Food Pantry to help needy families during the holiday seasons.

Remember to sing up early. Last year registration closed well before the last day to sign up and some runners had to be truned away. Don/t miss your opportunity to run this mostly flat, very fast course. Thanks to all who have registered. We look forward to having you take part in this year's event.
