News/Info
Please
check here often for the latest news about running and the HTC. Updates
will be posted here on a regular basis to keep you up to date on the latest
information concerning our club. If you
have a news item that other HTC members might
like to see please contact David Purinton
to have it posted. The HTC reserves the right to limit the items posted on
our site. Thanks.

Well, so does the HTC. Just click

members to discuss running, races and training.
Club events will also be posted.
Another reason to be very careful running with
headphones! Please click here and read.
Your safety and life could depend on it.

Race
Etiquette – We have
noticed some rather questionable running practices at several races lately and
would like to remind everyone of some basic race etiquette to practice. This is for the safety and enjoyment of
EVERYONE in the event. Please read this
whether you have run 1 or 100 races. We
are all guilty of some of these infractions.
Want
to be a wear tester?
Opportunities to test shoes and possibly other gear have been received
from Reebok and New Balance. Click here to get more
info on the New Balance opportunities and click
here for more info on the Reebok opportunities (women's size 7, men's size 9
& 12, at least 25 miles a week required). These opportunities are in no way linked to
the HTC and no endorsement is made of any company or product. This information is provided as informational
only.

HTC Awards
Banquet – On 13 November the HTC held its
annual awards dinner. Congratulations to
all the award recipients. Please take
the time read through the award presentations by clicking here.
Headphone wearers take note! The USATF had accepted
a new rule governing the use of electronic devices in races. This rule is aimed at headphones, MP3
players, etc. The reason for the ruling
is the danger the devices pose to the person using them as well as the
competitors around them. Please note
that the Cotton Row Run and
The HTC and FleetFeetSports
Huntsville are teaming up to recycle shoes. The new program is replacing the Shoe Amnesty program previously
undertaken by the HTC. This new program
will place gently used shoes (any shoes, not just running shoes) in the hands
of people in need of shoes. This program
will be feeding shoes to the group Soles for Souls.
Shoes will be collected at FleetFeetSports Huntsville but will not be collected at
races anymore.

Volunteer to work an HTC Race. HTC races rely on our members, their families, and others to
conduct our events. If you have never
volunteered at a race or would like to again please contact a race director. The alternative is fewer races.
Do you
like to talk to people? Are you interested
in helping the HTC gain new members?
Consider volunteering to staff a membership table at HTC events. Contact David Purinton for more
information.
